PbS/polyvinyl alcohol (PbS/PVA) nanocomposites have been grown by a chemical bath deposition process at various growth temperatures (60–100°C). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study revealed the formation of PbS nanoparticles of diameter 6–20nm encapsulated in PVA matrix. Optical band gap of the nanocomposite films have been found to decrease (1.45eV–0.67eV) with increase in growth temperature from 60°C to 100°C. The impedance measurements have been carried out by depositing the PbS/PVA films on indium tin oxide (ITO) coated flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates. The room temperature dielectric permittivity and ac conductivity measurements have been carried out for ITO/PbS/PVA/Al devices deposited at various growth temperatures. The nanocomposite films demonstrate superior dielectric permittivity compare to pure PVA polymer. The flexibility studies of ITO/PbS/PVA/Al devices have been performed at different bending angles.
